Summary = An author is an artist, don't allow your talents to be
wasted on this poor excuse for a publisher.
Press Release
Body = After writing my first full length novel, I was delighted
to hear that PUBLISHAMERICA would take me on as an author and publish
my work.
As mentioned
in many preceeding press releases on this same subject, I was mortified
when I discovered no less that 18 gramatical errors in my novel
as well as countless spelling errors AFTER it had been published
denoting a horredously high level if incompetency and unprofessionalism.
It seems that the slogan "we treat our authors the old fashioned
way - we pay them" is true enough but they seem to do very
little else. The seem to operate in the most unprofessional way
and take absolutely no heed to complaints or comments. In regards
to the statement in which they claim that their books will be available
in 'bricks and mortar' bookstores is farcical because upon ringing
no less than 15 diferent bookstores in the US (from the UK) I was
told by every single store that
they would not stock POD (publish on demand) books, especially when
they are unable to return them and make very little profit due to
the high list price (usually around £12.50 for a paperback!!!).
Ulitamtely, I felt shunned by the publisher as it seems that they
are far too preoccupied with getting new contracts (SEVEN BLOODY
YEARS!!!!)that they take little
or no notice of existing Authors on their books who wish to try
and elevate themselves to the heights of author recgognition. PA
will browbeat you and keep you down. I have felt on many occasions
that I have been snubbed when I have rung them (maybe they dont
like brits?). The attitude is one of flipancy and disinterest in
any problems you may have.....unless you want to by a skip-full
of their titles.
If you are a
budding author, don't get disheartened if you are knocked back by
the big publishers, just keep trying. I will however, strongly advise
any and all from seeking the exceptionally substandard services
of a so called old fashioned publisher - PublishAmerica.
