Press Release Summary = Stress brought on by moving home affects 40 per cent of Britons\' productivity at work, it has been revealed.
Press Release Body = A survey by national estate agency Your Move discovered that the stress associated with moving house is enough to keep millions of Britons\' minds off their jobs and adversely affect their performances - which could potentially cost the British economy millions of pounds.
Mike Ockenden, director general of the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP), speculates that if 40 per cent of Britons lose ten per cent in productivity each around the time of moving, the cost to the UK economy would be over £500 million.
\"The high levels of transaction failure and the extended period of uncertainty between offer and exchange of contracts in the current home buying and selling process is one of the most stressful times that consumers will endure in their lifetime,\" Mr Ockenden confirmed.
\"Several studies have shown that the stress of moving home ranks only behind ill health, relationship breakdown and bereavement yet, incredibly we have simply learnt to accept this in the UK - unlike in most European and Western countries, where this is far from the norm.\"
Julian King, Director of fast purchase property firm, National Homebuyers says: \"Our philosophy is that home selling should be stress-free. When we purchase properties, we use an external survey, there are no public viewings, we complete at a timescale that suits the vendor, there are no estate agency costs and we do not require a Hips pack.
\"The property market needs a shake-up and homeowners need to realise that estate agents are not always the right route to sell your house quickly.\"
