Press Release Body: SAN ANTONIO - Proud stewards of Texas deer, the Texas Deer Association (TDA) has announced the organization has experienced record-breaking growth in 2007 and achieved an astounding 55 percent increase in memberships during the past 11 months. The association's growth statistics include new and renewed memberships and is largely attributed to TDA's recent efforts in building public awareness among Texas hunters and sportsmen.
"We have made a lot of positive decisions on generating public awareness among sportsmen throughout the state, while we've also continued to demonstrate leadership on deer breeding and wildlife issues that are important to deer breeders, ranch managers and land owners as well as to hunters," says Karl Kinsel, executive director of the Texas Deer Association. "Once deer enthusiasts know about the TDA and understand that one of our primary goals is to increase quality hunting opportunities, we receive incredible support. We look forward to even greater growth in 2008."
The Texas Deer Association has also had a successful year with their legislative platform, working to increase quality hunting experiences for all Texas hunters and to advocate wise management practices, promote research and technology regarding improvements to deer herds through the practice of controlled breeding and genetic improvements.
"Our extraordinary growth this year is a clear testament to the hard work and dedication exemplified in our staff and board of directors who have been so tireless in coordinating our new marketing initiatives and sportsman's banquets around the state," adds Kinsel.
The TDA is the only non-profit organization solely committed to improving the quality of Texas deer herds through improved habitat practices, modern harvest strategies and use of superior deer to enhance the deer herds. As a part of its public education efforts, the TDA publishes a full-color bimonthly magazine, Tracks, which updates TDA members on current legislative news, deer genetics and game management issues. Every August, the TDA also hosts its annual convention and trade show, which features a Superior Genetics Whitetail Deer Auction, fund-raising auctions, golf tournament and other exciting events.
