Press Release Body: In a recent landmark study that was conducted by Linda Aiken, PH.D, RN, FAAN, Director of the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research at the University of Pennsylvania which was also published in the Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA), Aiken\'s concluded that Travel Nurses (temporary Nurses) were \"as well or better prepared then permanent nurses at Hospitals\" based on a study of 49,819 hospital staff nurses.
It is a landmark study because it contradicts the common belief that temporary nurses are only working temporary assignments because they can\'t find a permanent job and that the quality of care at hospitals suffers when temporary nurses are used. The article goes onto say that there may even be a correlation between better care when temporary nurses are used based on their credentials and experience.
President of HEALTHCAREseeker.com, Stephen Halasnik, commented: \"I was looking forward to seeing the results of this extensive study because I firmly believe that Travel Nurses add much more value to quality care then what Hospitals give them credit for and that Hospital should look to Travelers not only to fill shortage situations but as an important strategy to improve quality care. The Travel Nurses we place are very experienced Practitioners who often have extensive credentials and have worked in a lot of different settings. Companies outside of healthcare industry often bring in 10-30% of their workforce as temporary employees not to reduce costs but so that they can bring in the best talent. Corporate America has learned that the best will not work permanently and the best prefer working on a 1099 (not permanently employed). I believe that Hospitals have to start incorporating temporary nurses are a part of their staffing strategy.\"
