Press Release Summary: Additional TigerSwitchT products offer advanced features for SMBs and Enterprises using high bandwidth applications
Press Release Body: 14. January 2008 - SMC Networks (www.smc.com), leading provider of LAN hardware and broadband connectivity devices, today announced shipment of the two further switches in its TigerSwitchT family - The SMC8150L2 and the SMC8126L2.
Designed for both enterprises and SMBs, the SMC8150L2 is a 50-port managed switch with four combo ports and the SMC8126L2 is a 26-port version. Flexibility in network configuration is offered through an IP clustering facility that allows up to 32 individual switches from the 6100 and 8100 series to be grouped
together as one easy to manage, virtual entity requiring a single IP address.
Both switches use a single chip architecture to ensure wire-speed delivery of data whilst maintaining high levels of security, manageability and cost effectiveness.
The SMC8150L2 and the SMC8126L2 are gigabit edge switches capable of reaching up to 100Gbps and supporting Ethernet and advanced switching features in bandwidth-intensive networks. Features include Quality of Service (QoS) with waited fair queuing to ensure smooth transmission of critical data, and Multiple Spanning Tree for maximum security and bandwidth efficiency. Comprehensive security support is also provided through security features including RADIUS, IEEE*02.1x, SSH, SSL, TACACS+ and ACL.
The new switches support VLANs based on frame tags and automatic GVRP LAN registration. IGMP snooping also allows IP multicast traffic transmission to registered numbers, resulting in bandwidth savings and increased LAN performance.
Both new products in the TigerswitchT line are based around the latest in switching silicon design," said SMC Director of Product Marketing Iain Kenney. Both are future proofed for growth, highly featured and designed specifically for the demands of bandwidth-intensive networks."
The TigerSwitchT 10/100/1000 SMC8126L2 and the SMC8150L2 are available now and priced at £499 and £649.99 (RRP). Both are part of the TigerSwitchT 10/100 Managed Switch family.
